Despite significant fan backlash regarding a recent SummerSlam promotional graphic, reports suggest WWE has no intention of altering its creative direction.
On the July 24 episode of WWE SmackDown, Nikki Bella returned to action after an ankle injury sidelined her since March. She arrived to support Brie Bella and Paige following an assault by Fatal Influence’s Jacy Jayne, Lainey Reid, and Fallon Henley. Following the intervention, Nikki officially confirmed that The Bella Twins and Paige will compete against Fatal Influence in a six-woman tag team match at SummerSlam 2026.
Following the announcement, WWE debuted the official promotional poster for the match across its social media channels. However, the graphic immediately drew scrutiny, with fans critiquing the design rather than focusing on the match itself.
Social media users highlighted several flaws in the artwork, noting that the images of Nikki and Brie Bella appeared to be dated promotional photos from several years ago. Other viewers pointed out that Fallon Henley’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship looked digitally superimposed rather than part of a current photo, and Paige’s image lacked her standard wrestling attire.
The graphic has been widely dismissed by fans as rushed, appearing to lack the high-end production standards typically associated with WWE.
The online outcry has prompted some to question how a company reporting record-breaking financial growth under TKO would release what many perceived as an unfinished promotional asset.
Despite the negative reception, it appears WWE intends to continue integrating AI-assisted tools into its promotional workflows.
“While WWE is well aware of the negative online reaction to its use of AI in match graphics, promotional posters, and other materials, the company plans to continue increasing its use of AI-generated content both on and off screen over the coming months,” a source reported following the social media controversy.
