Rick Achberger, beloved by wrestling fans as “WWE Sign Guy,” has died.
A familiar face at WWE events for years, Achberger was known for wearing his trademark blue work shirt and red hat while holding signs in the crowd.
A dedicated fan, he reportedly attended 40 to 50 events annually. His most recent appearance was at the May 1 episode of WWE SmackDown.
Lance Petersen announced Achberger’s passing on Sunday, September 27, noting that the fan had faced health issues in recent years, with his condition worsening significantly over the past month.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of WWE Sign Guy Rick Achberger on Sunday, 9/27/26,” Petersen wrote. “He was a wonderful person who loved interacting with fans at the shows. He dealt with health problems a few years ago, but his health declined rapidly last month. Rest in peace.”
Former WWE producer and wrestler Road Dogg (Brian James) also shared the news of Achberger’s passing.
