X has halted enrolment for its revenue‑sharing scheme and will discontinue the program entirely after September 7. In its place, the company has launched an Original Content Rewards Program designed to compensate creators who contribute authentic, insightful, and innovative material to the platform. Under this new model, earnings will be tied to the qualified impressions that a creator’s original posts receive.
The company defines original content as native writing,.DOM, independent reporting, personally captured photos or videos, and self‑created memes or illustrations. While users may earn from others’ posts, X requires them to add substantial commentary, analysis or creative edits to qualify. Mere captions or text overlays that merely restate what is already visible will not be considered original, as the policy emphasises substantive value addition.
Eligibility for the rewards programme mandates that participants be at least 18 years old and reside in a country where the initiative is offered, as detailed on X’s help centre. Applicants must hold a Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business subscription, maintain a minimum of 500 verified followers, and accumulate at least 500,000 unique Home‑timeline impressions from verified users within the preceding 90 days megfelelő. Importantly, creators have to sustain these thresholds continuously to receive payouts.
Current revenue‑sharing members will need to reapply on September 8 once they satisfy the new criteria. Individuals not yet part of that program can apply immediately for the original content rewards.
Earlier in the year, X amended its revenue‑sharing framework to give additional weight to engagement originating from a user’s home region, a measure believed to curb identity spoofing. Whether the new programme will adopt a similar domestic‑engagement filter remains unclear at present.
