Images of the Xbox Elite Controller 3 have reportedly been leaked by Brazilian regulator Anatel. These images were subsequently circulated by local tech site Tecnoblog and later picked up by The Verge.

The leaked specifications suggest several notable new features. The controller is expected to include two scroll wheels located at the bottom, designed for thumb control. A new pairing button on the front appears to facilitate switching between local and cloud modes. Additionally, the D-pad has been redesigned, and the gamepad is anticipated to finally incorporate a removable, rechargeable battery.

This leak follows another report by Tecnoblog earlier today, which revealed images of a different Xbox peripheral – a pint-sized gamepad believed to be an unreleased Xbox Cloud Gaming controller. The Elite controller series has not seen a refresh in some time, with the second generation hardware having launched in 2019 and becoming customizable in Design Lab in 2022.

The fact that a national regulator is currently reviewing the device strongly indicates that the product’s retail release is imminent. While Xbox’s major summer showcase is only weeks away, the recent flurry of leaks might prompt Microsoft to make an official announcement sooner than planned.
