The activation of the XRP Ledger’s Batch upgrade, originally slated for September 29, has been postponed by at least ten days after validator support temporarily fell below the necessary level for enablement.
The Batch feature allows users to combine up to eight transactions into a single submission. Its all-or-nothing mechanism enables atomic swaps, where a buyer can pay for a tokenized asset and receive it in one seamless operation, mitigating the risk of either party completing the trade independently.
RippleX’s head of engineering, Ayo Akinyele, had previously informed CoinDesk that multiple projects are being developed with Batch in mind, and that Ripple plans to share more details about collaborations with asset managers once the feature is live. “Some projects are already being built with Batch in mind, so activation would allow that work to move closer to production,” he remarked, without specifying partners or launch dates.
The corrected upgrade, formally known as BatchV1_1, regained support from 30 of 35 trusted validators on September 25, according to the XRPL amendment dashboard. This has initiated a fresh two-week countdown, setting the earliest activation for October 9 at approximately 14:46 UTC, provided support remains consistent.
