XRP has entered a rare technical zone historically associated with significant price shifts, according to analyst ChartNerd.
ChartNerd noted that XRP has traded below its weekly Gaussian Channel only a handful of times in the past 13 years, identifying seven distinct periods, each preceding a major price shift.
He cited 2014, 2017, 2020, 2022, 2024, and the current 2026 pattern as instances where XRP hit the lower end of the Gaussian Channel before a major price move.
XRP Remains Under Key Gaussian Threshold
ChartNerd asserts that the lower portion of XRP’s weekly Gaussian Channel has traditionally served as a critical buying zone. Despite a recovery from roughly $0.98 to around $1.38, XRP remains below this level.
Historically, dips below this lower boundary have frequently been followed by consolidation phases before upward momentum resumes.
However, ChartNerd cautioned that the indicator should not be used to pinpoint the exact market bottom. Rather, he views the Gaussian Channel as a means to identify regions where XRP has historically consolidated before larger price movements.
In his view, these ranges have historically represented opportunities when XRP enters them during a bear market.
ChartNerd also emphasized the magnitude of historical moves following XRP’s breach of the Gaussian Channel. In one case, XRP eventually rebounded by nearly 8x to 9x, while another historical setup yielded a 100% recovery, underscoring the scale of subsequent moves.
2026 Pattern Mirrors Previous Cycles
ChartNerd compared XRP’s current price action to previous market cycles, particularly the 2022 bottom. In 2022, XRP dipped below the Gaussian Channel, recovered toward it, and then formed a higher low before a stronger rally.
ChartNerd suggests a similar scenario could unfold in 2026 if XRP fails to break above the lower Gaussian Channel, potentially leading to another higher low or a double-bottom pattern in the coming months, though further confirmation is required.
The analyst also examined XRP’s two-week Gaussian Channel, noting that breaches of the lower boundary have previously coincided with major bottoms and bullish signals, including in 2017, 2020, and 2022.
According to ChartNerd, this same signal is re-emerging in 2026.
Only 7 times in 13 years has $XRP spent periods of time accumulating under the weekly Gaussian Channel. Every period of price action below this indicator eventually lead to all major repricing events: 2014, 2017, 2020, 2022, 2024, and now here we are again in 2026..

Analyst Anticipates Accumulation Before Major Rally
Rather than expecting XRP to rapidly hit new all-time highs, ChartNerd believes the cryptocurrency will dedicate more time to constructing a solid base.
He referenced XRP’s history of extended accumulation phases before major breakouts. For instance, XRP consolidated for several years between 2013 and 2017 before a significant price surge that peaked at $3.84 by 2018.
ChartNerd posits that another prolonged accumulation period will strengthen XRP’s next breakout, particularly as institutional adoption expands.
His long-term forecast reaches to 2028, when he anticipates XRP could reach $8 or higher. However, he noted this would likely necessitate XRP spending more time building a base rather than immediately launching into another sharp rally.
Ultimately, ChartNerd views XRP’s current configuration as bullish over the long term, but expects the price may continue moving sideways or consolidating before the next significant move.
