Yangze Unveils Debut Album ‘Heartbreak Stew’ Featuring New Single ‘Okay’

Performing under the name Yangze—a nickname he’s had since birth—Jakob Littauer represents the newest avant‑pop act to arise from Copenhagen. This November he will release his debut album, Heartbreak Stew, via the respected Escho label. The record contains the earlier tracks “Stew” and “Heart-Shaped Eyes,” and kicks off with the fresh single “Okay.”

During his teenage years, Yangze performed with the techno outfit Electrojuice, earning him a spot at Berlin’s legendary Berghain club at just sixteen. He now collaborates with Cæcilie Trier in the TLF Trio. As a solo artist, he pushes his voice to the upper register, shifting it even higher to create an unsettling ultra‑falsetto that floats over his glitchy, futuristic beats. The track “Okay” exemplifies a seamless blend of indie‑friendly electronic pop influences, ranging from Ryan Hemsworth and PC Music to his fellow Escho labelmates.
