Young Pakistani All-rounder Maaz Sadaqat Hails Mohammad Rizwan as Career Role Model

Maaz Sadaqat, the promising Pakistan all-rounder born on May 15, 2005, cites Mohammad Rizwan as a primary influence on his cricketing journey.

Senior players like Rizwan, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Sahibzada Farhan provided Sadaqat with crucial professional insights, which he has integrated into his own growth.

“Mohammad Rizwan has been my role model since beginning of my cricket career,” Sadaqat said as quoted by Batting with Bimal.

Sadaqat has missed out on Pakistan’s recent Test selections, absent from the 1-1 drawn series against West Indies and the ongoing three-Test series against England, where Pakistan trails 2-0 heading into the third Test in Birmingham.

Despite featuring in only six ODIs for Pakistan, Sadaqat has surpassed 1,000 runs in every domestic format. Conversely, Mohammad Rizwan was dropped from the squad for the third Test against England after scoring 12, 41, 7, and 1 in the first two matches.

Rizwan has accumulated over 7,000 international runs with a white-ball average exceeding 40, and his domestic stats are equally stellar, boasting over 7,000 first-class runs, 6,500 List A runs, and 9,000 T20 runs.

After Pakistan’s defeat in the second Test at Lord’s, Rizwan was one of seven players sent home, replaced by seven new inclusions, five of whom were uncapped Test players.

In the wake of the second Test at Lord’s, Pakistan overhauled both its squad and coaching staff. The PCB replaced red-ball head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul with white-ball head coach Mike Hesson and bowling coach Ashley Noffke to steer the Test program, aiming to revitalize the team’s performance.
