Zac Brown presented Dolly Parton’s video at a CMA Foundation gathering.

Dolly Parton, a lifelong advocate for education, delivered a special message to teachers at the CMA Foundation Music Teachers of Excellence event on Wednesday.

Zac Brown shared the video, noting that Parton had recorded a special message for the teachers present and taken the time to address them directly.

“When I consider legacy, I focus not only on what we create but even more on what we give away,” said Brown from the stage. “That is how our influence endures beyond the moment—something Dolly Parton exemplifies.”

Beyond her countless hits, Parton’s life extended far into philanthropy. Brown added, “She gave people hope, believed in children, and leveraged her success to create opportunities for others.”

After his remarks, Parton’s video played, showing her radiant presence on screen. She said, “I’ve always believed that music unites people, but none of that happens without dedicated teachers who encourage, inspire, and believe in the next generation—that’s why we’re honoring you tonight. To every music teacher of excellence, thank you for your passion, patience, and care for your students each day. Congratulations on this remarkable achievement, and continue making beautiful music together.”

Parton passed away on August 25 after a brief battle with cancer. She founded the Dollywood Foundation in 1988, channeling her fame and wealth into causes such as disaster relief for forest fire victims in 2017, funding for COVID‑19 vaccines, and most notably, the Imagination Library, which provides books to children worldwide.
