McLaren CEO Emphasizes Unit Leadership Followings Norris-Piastri Collision
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown weighs in
The McLaren Racing CEO was notably firm with Sky Sports F1 commentator Martin Brundle during Saturday’s grid walk, offering stricter counsel than team principal Andrea Stella.
“The conversation continues and remains open, reflecting the importance of aligning every individual toward a common purpose,” Brown declared.
“That was ‘don’t do that again.’ We certainly did not ask permission; it is an instruction,” Brown responded.
“It was an unwarranted consequence for the team given the intense pressure we face, and we remain directly challenging Ferrari and Red Bull in the current championship fight.”

Norris accepted the blame
Instantly after the sprint, Norris argued that the move originated from a significant gap, asserting confidence in his decision-making—but by subsequent weeks his stance evolved sharply.
“No action was ever appropriate for what I performed, nor should it have been taken under any circumstances. Above all, I must prioritize representing the team I serve, not merely advancing my own ambitions. This was a mistake on my part; I fell short of what I owed the champions, and I apologize to all involved for failing that duty. Next performance will require renewed discipline.”
Norris secured fourth place overall and finished fifth while Piastri placed beside him.
Red Bull closing in
With McLaren holding third in the constructors’ championship—accumulating 339 points, marginally behind Ferrari and edging Red Bull by seven—Sunday’s clash against the Texas Grand Prix is expected to intensify, keeping the lead contested through the remaining rounds.
