Zoey Stark Makes Bold Statement as She Enters Free Agency Following WWE Release

Former WWE Superstar Zoey Stark is entering a new phase of her career with determination and a fresh identity.

Stark was among several WWE superstars let go during the company’s post-WrestleMania 42 roster cuts on April 24. With the conclusion of her mandatory 90-day non-compete period on July 23, Stark officially joined the free agency market alongside Alesiter Black, Zelina Vega, the Motor City Machine Guns, Kairi Sane, Santos Escobar, and the Wyatt Sicks.

Her departure followed a significant knee injury sustained in May 2025, which resulted in ACL, MCL, and meniscus tears. The release surprised fans, as reports indicated WWE still viewed Stark as a promising talent and intended to reintroduce her as a fan-favorite character upon her return.

Upon becoming a free agent, Stark shared a video on X/Twitter stating, “This season, I am unapologetically coming after everything I want. It’s f*cking showtime.” The post marked her first public remarks since leaving WWE.

In May, Stark teased her post-WWE persona with a training montage revealing her new ring name, Zoey Serrano, and the moniker “The Purist.” Earlier this month, she further solidified her rebranding by unveiling a new entrance theme for her independent career.

During a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray questioned WWE’s handling of Stark’s release, particularly its failure to provide her a return match after her recovery. “Think about what she’s going through right now,” he said, emphasizing the emotional impact. “I tried for a whole year to come back only to have you tell me you’re not even going to give me an opportunity… Not even one match back. To me, that’s not right. Give her one match back… give her an opportunity after she rehabbed herself.”
