Amelia Dimoldenberg revealed that *Chicken Shop Date* began as a series of interviews with grime artists she conducted during her teenage years for the teen‑culture publication *The Cut*.
She explained that the programme originated within a youth club where her team produced a magazine; the experiences, connections, and mentorship gained enabled her long‑term career trajectory.
Entertainment journalist and longtime fan Megan Bull noted that the show’s distinctive format was instrumental to its rapid rise.
Bull praised Amelia for her ability to put celebrities at ease, remarking that the unconventional, interview‑free approach sets her apart from conventional formats.
Since its launch, the series has expanded far beyond online platforms, appearing on red carpets and even moving onto film projects.
Dimoldenberg emphasized that the platform demonstrates how quickly a YouTube‑originated show can scale beyond initial expectations.
Recently, Amelia even starred in a cameo role in *Devil Wears Prada 2*, further cementing her status as a mainstream personality.
“A lot of people will be excited to see what she does next.”
Beyond her media ventures, Dimoldenberg has actively supported apprenticeship and training schemes aimed at boosting employability for young people.
However, she acknowledged that building *Chicken Shop Date* took considerable effort over time.
“Some people think it’s been, like, two years,” she said.
She described a lengthy campaign of persuading publicists, producers, and potential participants.
At the time of its inception, Dimoldenberg observed that social media was not considered the optimal venue for promoting a star’s releases.
According to her recent coverage in *The Guardian*, *Chicken Shop Date* now ranks among pioneering series—similar to flagship talks shows such as Graham Norton’s and BBC Radio 1—for elevating celebrities’ media profiles last month.
