Formed in Glasgow in 1977, Simple Minds is celebrating a remarkable milestone as founding members Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill approach their 50th anniversary together. The legendary duo continues to create music that resonates across generations.
Next week, Kerr and Burchill will release their joint memoir Our Secrets Are The Same. Building on this momentum, Simple Minds will unveil their forthcoming album Sacrosanct in early next year, following their 2022 release Direction Of The Heart. The brooding lead single “Beginner Boys” explores themes of growth and generational wisdom. Kerr explains, “It’s about watching my grandsons grow up—how strength, tenderness, courage, and gentleness might still belong together, even when the wider culture around them can send mixed signals. It’s less a statement than a question I hope they’ll spend their lives answering for themselves.”
