Wordle Etymology
The word “wager” originates from the Old North French term wagier, which translates to “to pledge or promise.” This term derives from a Germanic root signifying “pledge” or “security.” Initially, it referred to something offered as a guarantee, before evolving into its current meaning of risking something on an uncertain outcome.
Wordle Bot Analysis: Friday, September 4
Wordle Bot is regularly consulted to evaluate guessing strategies and overall performance.
Following the Bot’s lead, I selected SLATE as my opening guess, a choice that proved less than optimal. My second attempt, DREAM, reduced the possibilities from 140 words to 25. For my third guess, I introduced entirely new letters, and WINCH unexpectedly came to mind. In hindsight, PINCH might have been a stronger option. Fortunately, this guess secured a green W, and my final selection, WAGER, successfully distinguished itself from WAFER.
