Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso indicated that midfielder Jordan Henderson appears on the verge of making his club debut.
The 36‑year‑old secured a surprise free transfer from Brentford, joining Chelsea shortly after his exit from the Foxes this summer.
Henderson entered later in the schedule after representing England at the World Cup, so he missed any pre‑season campaign.
Nevertheless, he has gone without a single match for the Blues, though Alonso emphasized that his comeback is becoming inevitable.
He said in today’s press conference: “I’m getting progressively closer to establishing regular minutes.”
Chelsea are currently short in the midfield department after selling Enzo Fernández to Manchester City without appointing a replacement.
Moises Caicedo sits out due to an injury, creating uncertainty for his involvement against Arsenal on Sunday.
Romeo Lavia’s slot in the starting midfield is questionable, with reports indicating he may rotate alongside Valentin Barco or captain Reece James facing London United.
