Jersey Bulls Women recorded their first-ever league defeat after losing 3-0 to Sutton United Under-23s.
The islanders competed in the Surrey Premier Division of the South East Counties Women’s Football League for the first time after winning every match on their route to promotion last season.
Jersey began the campaign unbeaten, having claimed the league’s Surrey Division One title in their debut season in the English football pyramid.
However, the move to a higher level proved challenging, with the defeat extending their losing run to two matches after they were eliminated from the FA Cup the previous week.
The first half finished scoreless before the hosts broke through three minutes into the second half, when Rachel Marlow flicked on a free kick.
Sutton United Under-23s doubled their advantage soon afterwards as Neriyah Anderson-Bailey finished from the edge of the box following a corner, while Maya Anderson completed the scoreline.
Jersey Bulls Women travel to Oxted and District next week after the visitors drew and lost their opening two matches.
