Corn prices slipped 1 to 2 cents in early Wednesday trading after posting modest gains on Tuesday. Futures rose fractionally to 2.5 cents across the board, following gains in other grain markets and a $4.09 increase in crude oil after a weaker morning session. Open interest fell by 2,782 contracts on Tuesday. The CmdtyView national average cash corn price was up 3.25 cents at $4.87.
Harvest progress is expected to slow next week, with 1 to 3 inches of moisture forecast in parts of Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Iowa, and the eastern Corn Belt. The heaviest rainfall totals are projected for Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Missouri.
Brazilian corn production data released by CONAB on Tuesday showed the 2025/26 crop at 144 million metric tons, up 1.04 million metric tons from the previous estimate. An initial forecast for the 2026/27 crop was set at 148 million metric tons by CONAB, compared with a USDA estimate of 139 million metric tons.
Dec 26 Corn closed at $5.3575, up 2.5 cents, but is currently down 1.5 cents.
Nearby Cash corn was $4.9050, up 3 cents.
Mar 27 Corn closed at $5.5025, up 2.25 cents, but is currently down 1.5 cents.
May 27 Corn closed at $5.5675, up 1.5 cents, but is currently down 1.5 cents.
