Saturday Night Live UK presented a satirical sketch featuring the Manchester band Oasis portrayed as Russian spies attempting to acquire Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s personal information, with the full sketch available below.
The segment opened the September 26 episode hosted by Amelia Dimoldenberg, depicting George Fouracres as Burnham within his Manchester Number 10 North office. Following his return from the UN General Assembly in New York—where Burnham addressed Russian disinformation and cyber threats—the sketch featured a meeting with Angela Rayner, played by Celeste Dring.
After Rayner mentioned the arrival of “local lads,” Liam and Noel Gallagher, portrayed by cast members Freddie Meredith and Jack Shep, entered the scene. Burnham, a self-proclaimed Oasis enthusiast, was presented with tickets for the band’s upcoming Etihad Stadium concerts. The sketch included a humorous nod to Manchester City’s recent Premier League charges, joking the venue might be “repossessed” before the Gallaghers’ performance.
Burnham agreed to help with a missing guitarist, enthusiastically volunteering himself. As he entered increasingly sensitive details—including passwords, National Insurance numbers, and pet names—the lights shifted, revealing the Gallaghers as Russian agents in disguise.
The impersonators declared, “Oasis has always been Russian pop. All songs were made in a lab by Kremlin scientists,” before quipping, “‘Wonderwall’ is really ‘Wonderful Wall’ about the Berlin Wall.” The sketch concluded with Burnham rejecting the espionage attempt, ordering the “Russian Mancs” to leave Manchester and “go back to being Oasis.”
