LONDON: The Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition took part Sunday in an international conference spotlighting Saudi Arabia’s campaign against extremist ideology, with emphasis on prevention, capacity-building, and counterterrorism cooperation.
The two-day International Conference on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Efforts to Counter Intellectual Deviations, hosted by the Islamic University of Madinah on Sept. 27-28, brought together scholars, researchers, and specialists from Saudi Arabia and abroad, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
At an accompanying exhibition, the coalition detailed its work across four pillars: countering extremist ideology, strategic communications, disrupting terrorist financing, and military cooperation.
An interactive display showcased the coalition’s strategic programs and initiatives across member states, outlining their objectives, implementation methods, and efforts to build institutional capacity, share expertise, and strengthen cooperation against terrorism and extremism.
The coalition also presented publications, research, and studies on terrorism, extremist ideology, and measures to prevent radicalization.
Organizers emphasized that the coalition’s participation underscores initiatives designed to translate research into training and practical programs while improving coordination among institutions combating extremism.
The coalition said its presence reflects a commitment to advancing academic discourse on ideological extremism and helping member states prevent radicalization, combat terrorism, and expand collaboration among institutions, researchers, and specialists.
