Manchester United midfielder Carlos Baleba is poised to make his official debut for the club in their upcoming Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on October 10.
The 22-year-old Cameroonian international completed a high-profile £70 million transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer, but has remained on the sidelines due to an ankle injury sustained shortly after joining the club.
Although Baleba was included in the matchday squad for United’s season opener against Fulham prior to the international break, manager Michael Carrick opted against risking the young midfielder in that encounter.
During the international window, Baleba has focused intensively on his rehabilitation and regaining match fitness. According to reports from The Athletic, he is now expected to be fully available for selection moving forward.
Operating primarily as a defensive midfielder, Baleba could play a pivotal role in bolstering United’s midfield options as they attempt to reverse their sluggish start to the season, which has yielded only five points from their first five league fixtures.
While Carrick’s position as manager remains unchallenged at present, continued struggles in the league standings could prompt greater scrutiny from the club’s executive hierarchy.
