Noah Kahan has unveiled “Draw You Out,” his poignant contribution to the upcoming soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
The track stands out as one of the most compelling additions to the storied Hunger Games soundtrack legacy, which has previously featured iconic contributions such as Taylor Swift’s Grammy-winning “Safe & Sound” featuring The Civil Wars, and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Can’t Catch Me Now” from The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.
On “Draw You Out,” Kahan delivers an emotionally resonant and aching chorus: “I carry you on with me / I promised you I would, and I do / And I float around / Show up unannounced in the places that you knew.”
A self-proclaimed admirer of Suzanne Collins’ literary universe, Kahan shared his excitement on social media ahead of the release. “This is something I’ve always wanted to do, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to write for this moving film, having adored the works of art by Suzanne Collins,” he wrote. He further explained how he was deeply connected to the tragic yet hopeful narrative of Haymitch and Lenore Dove, describing the process of writing about their purpose, grief, and perseverance through pain as an unforgettable experience.
The singer-songwriter added that he felt incredibly honored to be a small part of such an incredible cinematic project.
Sunrise on the Reaping, released in March of last year, serves as a prequel to the original trilogy and marks the fifth installment in the beloved series, following The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay, and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
The narrative follows a young Haymitch Abernathy—portrayed by Woody Harrelson in the original film quadrilogy—during his tragic journey as a participant in the 50th Hunger Games.
“Draw You Out” marks a reunion for Kahan and acclaimed musician Aaron Dessner, who co-wrote and co-produced the track across Long Pond Studio in New York, as well as Gold Pacific Studios and East Iris Studios in Nashville. The accompanying album, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (The Album), is executive produced by Dave Cobb and is scheduled for release on November 13, just one week ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on November 20.
