Chelsea have reportedly revived their interest in signing Barcelona defender Jules Kounde ahead of the January transfer window.
The Blues were previously keen on signing the Frenchman during his time at Seville, but he chose to join the Spanish champions.
Kounde has been a regular right-back for the Catalan giants in recent years, but he is primarily a central defender by trade.
Blues boss Xabi Alonso values his experience in the heart of the defence and has urged the club to consider a fresh move.
Barcelona are open to selling Kounde for the right price, but the Blues can expect competition from elsewhere for his services.
Premier League rivals Arsenal are also long-term admirers of Kounde and could go head-to-head with Chelsea for him.
The Gunners are looking at the possibility of replacing Ben White next year and have earmarked Kounde as a possible target.
Kounde could leave Barcelona for around £40m. Contract talks have stalled at the Blaugrana with plans to entertain his exit.
