Manchester United have submitted a renewed contract offer to highly‑rated academy prospect JJ Gabriel in a bid to retain the 16‑year‑old at Old Trafford.
The teenage forward has become central to mounting speculation about his future after reportedly asking to leave following a breakdown in negotiations.
Despite the deteriorating tension, United have initiated measures to explore a reconciliation path while safeguarding financial recourse should Gabriel depart.

The Guardian reports that Manchester United have formally offered JJ Gabriel a new scholarship arrangement despite the adolescent’s expressed wish to seek employment elsewhere.
The 16‑year‑old has been absent from Carrington training sessions recently, and his perspective is clouded by disagreements over a prospective agreement.
However, United’s subsequent proposal fulfills two key objectives. First, it offers the club another opportunity to persuade Gabriel to remain and progress within its academy system. Second, the formal offer may safeguard compensation rights should the teen eventually settle with another English side.
The deal could realize a compensation package exceeding £3 million, supplemented by sell‑on fees, provided Gabriel completes a domestic transfer and the final decision is rendered by a legal tribunal.
An overseas transaction would likely generate far smaller returns, consistent with the international training compensation rules whereby United could assert roughly £350,000 for a player moving abroad.

A primary challenge in negotiations has apparently been the financial package proposed by Gabriel’s representatives. Reports indicate his camp sought a sum surpassing €1 million yearly—approximately £830,000 per annum, or £16,000 weekly. Additionally, his representatives pressed for assurance regarding Gabriel’s future placement on Manchester United’s first team.
Previously, United had endeavored to highlight Gabriel’s value to their long‑term strategy, involving former manager Sir Alex Ferguson among the persuaders.
JJ Gabriel is targeted by Europe’s elite clubs
Despite strained relations, the 16‑year‑old attracted heightened interest from top European institutions, including Real Madrid, Paris Saint‑Germain, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Should he reject United’s latest reconciliation proposal, a substantial blockbuster transfer to one of Europe’s most prestigious squads appears virtually inevitable.
