The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has placed Dewan Farooque Motors Limited (DFML) in its non‑compliant segment for failing to pay a regulatory penalty within the stipulated period, giving the company until 12 January 2027 to clear its outstanding dues or face further action.
In a notice issued on 14 October, PSX said DFML missed payment of a penalty imposed under Clause 5.2.1.1 of the exchange’s regulations. Consequently, the exchange moved DFML to the non‑compliant segment under Clause 5.11.1(d), effective 15 October 2026.
Regulations allow a listed company to be moved to the non‑compliant segment for failing to pay annual listing fees for two consecutive years, penalties imposed by final orders, or other outstanding dues to the exchange. DFML’s action was triggered specifically by the unpaid regulatory penalty.
PSX directed the company to rectify the non‑compliance by settling the outstanding dues within 90 days of the notice, setting the compliance deadline for 12 January 2027. Failure to resolve the matter within this period could result in further appropriate action under Clause 5.11.3(d), including the possible issuance of a Risk Warning Alert against the company.
The notice did not disclose the exact amount of the outstanding penalty.
Separately, the National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL) announced that DFML would be removed from the list of securities eligible for Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB‑B) and the Margin Financing System (MF), effective 15 October. The exclusion followed PSX’s decision to place the company in the non‑compliant segment, meaning DFML shares will no longer qualify for transactions under those facilities.
The NCCPL advised clearing members and other market participants to take note of the change. The regulatory action leaves DFML under a compliance deadline, with the possibility of additional measures if the outstanding dues remain unpaid after 12 January 2027.
