Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson etched his name into the record books during India’s fourth T20I against West Indies at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Samson became only the sixth Indian player to smash 100 sixes in T20I cricket, achieving the feat early in India’s chase of 248 runs.
Entering the match needing just two more sixes to reach the milestone, Samson wasted little time. He blasted 56 runs off 23 balls at a strike rate of 243.48, providing India with a devastating start. His aggressive batting included consecutive sixes off the fourth and fifth deliveries of the second over, sealing his place in the exclusive hundred-six club.
Samson Reaches T20I Century of Sixes
The right-handed batter finished his innings with four sixes, taking his overall T20I six tally to 102. His 23-ball knock also included six boundaries, as he maintained his brutal form throughout. Samson’s explosive start helped India register their fastest-ever team fifty in T20Is, reaching the milestone in just three overs.
Across 76 T20I appearances, Samson has scored 1,719 runs in 68 innings at an average of 27.28 with a strike rate of 158.87. His consistency has yielded three centuries and 10 half-centuries, underlining his impact in the shortest format.

Samson Joins Pantheon of Indian Six Strikers
With 102 sixes, Samson now stands alongside an elite group of Indian hitters who have cleared the 100-six barrier in T20Is. Rohit Sharma leads with 205 sixes, followed by Suryakumar Yadav at 179. Abhishek Sharma ranks third with 141, while Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli have amassed 126 and 124 sixes respectively.
Samson’s 2026 has been exceptional, with 687 runs in 24 T20Is at an average of 29.86 and a strike rate of 178.44. His seven half-centuries include an unbeaten 97 as his highest score of the year. He was integral to India’s triumph in the T20 World Cup earlier this year, registering three consecutive fifties during the tournament.
The fourth T20I also marked a landmark for the Indian team, crossing 2,000 sixes in the format. Samson’s personal milestone added further sheen to what was already a memorable contest, reaffirming his status as a cornerstone of India’s T20I lineup.
