Miley Cyrus Rejects Viral Criticism, Affirms Full Presence at Hollywood Bowl
Miley Cyrus responded to backlash surrounding her return to the stage at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, dismissing viral complaints as “clickbait.” She argued that allegations she failed to give full attention to her material were unfounded. “I’ve never heard anyone suggest I lack passion,” Cyrus declared to her audience during a separate Bowl performance. While acknowledging potentially contradictory traits regarding her persona, she refused to engage with theories about her motivation.
Since her last live appearance occurred four years prior to Friday night, she characterized this controversy as typical friction that arises when pursuing significant steps forward in her career. “This is an experience for me,” she explained, adding that the performance serves to challenge personal and professional boundaries. One boundary she would not cross was speculation about her dedication onstage; she insisted she remains completely centered. During her rendition of her new single “Bass Persuades,” she addressed the pressure directly. “Oh I forgot, I’m supposed to sing every fucking word.”
This candid delivery continued through the encore as she returned home amidst the praise directed her ways. Beyond the immediate show, Cyrus noted that her latest recording project, Bass Persuades, has moved front and center. Rolling Stone observed that she refuses to let critical waves influence her creative direction, stating, “The fickle pop public Cyrus once wanted to appease no longer seems to have any leverage over her. Through the thundering sound of Bass Persuases, she cannot ignore their defensive remarks.” Currently, she has not announced any additional tour dates.

Cysis doesn’t currently have any further tour dates scheduled. Her latest album, Bass Persuades, came out in September. Rolling Stone wrote of the LP, “The fickle pop public Cyrus once wanted to appease no longer seems to no longer have any leverage over her. Through the thundering sound of Bass Persuades, she can’t hear their defiant rebuttals to the notion that her audience will go where she goes. They aren’t what motivates her — especially not in the way the love she goes home to at the end of the night does.”
