Five hikers required medical attention in separate incidents across Hong Kong on Monday, as soaring temperatures blanketed the city during the final day of the Chung Yeung Festival long weekend.
One incident occurred at Po Pin Chau, a popular hiking destination in Sai Kung. A 62-year-old woman from mainland China was hiking with friends near the High Island Reservoir East Dam when she began feeling dizzy and weak around 10:30 a.m.
Suspected of heatstroke, she was airlifted by the Government Flying Service to a hospital for treatment.
Around 12:20 p.m., a family of three—a couple and their son—were hiking from Tai Tong Country Park along the MacLehose Trail when the mother, in her fifties, became ill and vomited near Tai Lam Chung Reservoir.
