India aim to sustain momentum after stunning NZ win
India went into the series brimming with confidence following their successful run chase of 226 in the opening T20I. Samson anchored the innings with a breezy 67 off 33 balls, while Abhishek’s explosive cameo helped lay a solid platform. Earlier, New Zealand posted 225/4—their highest home T20I total against India—thanks to Glenn Phillips’ explosive 82 off 40 balls and Finn Allen’s aggressive 45 off 24 deliveries. Bevon Jacobs contributed a late burst of 31 runs off 16 balls.
India momentarily struggled after a middle-order collapse, but Shreyas Iyer’s 42 off 28 balls kept the innings afloat before Dhir sealed the win with a dazzling display. India finished at 230/6 in 19.4 overs. As the second T20I looms, Abhishek’s words underscored the importance of maintaining focus and showing utmost respect toward the opposition. India will look to continue their dominant form, while New Zealand will seek redemption and level the series.
