General Motors announced on Tuesday that it will move its stock listing from the New York Stock Exchange to Nasdaq beginning next month, a shift the Detroit automaker says underscores its increasing emphasis on technology and innovation.
The automaker indicated that its shares will start trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market on Nov. 17, retaining the existing ticker symbol “GM”.
“GM’s customer-focused, technology-driven strategy is creating value for our stockholders, making Nasdaq a natural home for our listing as we grow,” GM Chief Financial Officer Paul Jacobson said in a statement. “We’re grateful for our long-standing partnership with the New York Stock Exchange and its remarkable legacy.”
GM, which owns the Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac brands, has made advanced vehicle technology a cornerstone of its long-term growth strategy.

The exchange move coincides with GM’s ongoing investment in technologies designed to make vehicles safer, smarter and more efficient, while also expanding its electric vehicle lineup.
The transfer would make GM eligible for potential inclusion in the Nasdaq‑100 Index, which tracks the 100 largest non-financial companies listed on the exchange; however, inclusion is not assured.
