The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 mini-auction concluded on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, resulting in significant earnings for international players.
The auction proceeded with a more restrained format as most teams already had settled squads, focusing on minor adjustments. Despite this, 88% of players were acquired at their base prices, with the largest premium of 120% paid for Australian all-rounder Sophie Molineux.
Five key players drove intense bidding competition, with all-rounders attracting the most significant interest.
WPL 2027 Auction: Sophie Molineux Enters as Most Expensive Acquisition
UP Warriorz set an aggressive tone early in the auction, securing Australian all-rounder Sophie Molineux to strengthen their spin-bowling department. Her base price was ₹50 lakh, which escalated rapidly during bidding. UP Warriorz maintained their stance, ultimately securing her for a record-winning bid of ₹1.10 crore, marking her as the most expensive player and highest bid of the 2027 auction.
Delhi Targets Domestic Batting Prowess
Delhi Capitals focused on bolstering their batting lineup by pursuing Indian batter Kiran Navgire. Her base price was ₹40 lakh, but Delhi Capitals recognized her value in accelerating during the final overs. They secured her for ₹75 lakh, placing her as the second-highest paid player and the top domestic acquisition of the day.
The remaining top acquisitions were secured at base prices, with franchises avoiding protracted bidding wars for elite talent.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bolstered their squad by signing veteran Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen at her ₹40 lakh base price. Similarly, Gujarat Giants matched exact valuations for Indian batter G. Kamalini at ₹40 lakh.
UP Warriorz concluded their major signings by acquiring explosive all-rounder Grace Harris at her ₹30 lakh base price, joining seven other players bought at the same rate.
