MANAMA – The United Arab Emirates expressed hope for a diplomatic breakthrough in the negotiations between Iran and the United States, while also signaling readiness for a possible escalation in the Middle East, a senior Emirati official said on Sunday.
Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE president, made the remarks at a conference in Manama. “We are hopeful that a diplomatic breakthrough will be achieved,” Gargash said. “It is not in the region’s interest to enter another round of conflict. However, as we have demonstrated in the past, we are prepared for the worst.”
