A business jet with nine occupants crashed in a Florida residential neighborhood on Sunday, igniting a large fireball.
The Learjet 60 went down in a residential area of Palm Beach County, Florida, according to federal officials.
The aircraft, bound for the Bahamas, had taken off from Austin‑Bergstrom International Airport in Texas, as reported by the Federal Aviation Administration.
It remains uncertain whether any individuals on the ground were injured, and no information is yet available regarding the fate of those on board.
Footage captured the jet diving steeply before bursting into a massive fireball near a major roadway, mere feet from moving vehicles. The impact created a large crater in the pavement, with flames rising from the hole beside a utility pole.
Debris, including sections of pavement, was seen ablaze as bystanders gathered in shock, noting that the aircraft landed only a few feet from homes. Thick black smoke rose from the crater, drifting past swaying palm trees under stormy conditions.
