Jennie pays tribute to sibling love on her new single “Someone to Hold.” The BLACKPINK member recorded the upbeat track for the soundtrack of Netflix’s upcoming animated film Steps, collaborating with producer Justin Tranter.
“After everything that we’ve been through/ The ins and outs, the upside downs and good times too,” she sings on the single. “You’re still the shooting star that’s in my skies/ You’re still the only one I want in every life.”
Of the song, Jennie shared: “I am so excited to join the Steps family and it was really fun making my first song for an animated film! I love how much heart and personality the characters have, and I’m so happy I got to be a little part of their world. I hope you enjoy Steps and “Someone to Hold” as much as I do and I can’t wait for you guys to hear it!”
Directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, Steps reimagines the classic Cinderella tale. The official synopsis: Tired of living in Cinderella’s shadow, Lilith (voiced by Ali Wong) steals the Fairy Godmother (Bette Midler)’s magic wand and hijacks the Royal Ball with her sister Margot (Stephanie Hsu), shattering the familiar story and dooming the kingdom to the tyrannical rule of Priscilla (Nikki Glaser), a villainous schemer who seizes the throne. Now, Lilith must team up with Cinderella (Amanda Seyfried) to battle biker trolls, outrun evil henchmen, and escape the Screaming Woods on an epic quest to save the kingdom—and, most importantly, their relationship.
The film debuts on Netflix on November 20. The soundtrack features four original songs written and produced by Tranter, with additional vocals from Seyfried, Rose Gray, and Emei. Kris Bowers, known for his work on Bridgerton, composed the score.
