In a poignant moment during Foo Fighters’ 2025 return to Sweden, Dave Grohl shared a candid reflection on his 2015 onstage accident that led to a fractured leg and the subsequent cancellation of major tour dates, including Glastonbury and Wembley Stadium shows.
The incident occurred during the second song of a June 12, 2015, performance at Gothenburg’s Ullevi Stadium. Grohl fell from the stage mid-song (‘Monkey Wrench’), sustaining a leg injury that forced him to pause the show briefly for medical attention. Despite the setback, he rejoined the band to complete the performance—a testament to his dedication that became a defining memory of the show.
On the 11th anniversary of the gig, Foo Fighters revisited Sweden on June 12, 2025, performing at the Strawberry Arena in Solna as part of their ‘Take Cover’ tour. Grohl openly acknowledged the coincidence during the concert. “I fell off the stage and I bust my fucking leg,” he said, grinning. “That was 11 years ago today. Same day! How fucking weird is that. Coincidence? I don’t think so!”
Adding humor to his recollection, he vowed to “sing this song real fucking hard” of ‘Walk,’ praising the 2015 crowd for their support. He highlighted the band’s resilience after the injury, noting they played just weeks later on July 4 from a “throne” with his leg elevated post-surgery. Grohl also thanked his surgeon James during the performance, expressing gratitude for his recovery.
The 2015 show became a career highlight for Grohl, who described it as “my favourite Foo Fighters show we’ve ever had.” He also took a moment to applaud Florence + The Machine’s 2015 Glastonbury performance, stating, “I’m very happy that that happened,” and called the act “vivid” after watching it remotely while recovering.
This year’s Swedish tour kicks off Grohl’s sold-out dual-night Liverpool residency on June 25–27, alongside festival appearances at Mad Cool and NOS Alive. Support acts include Royel Otis, Inhaler, IDLES, Otoboke Beaver, Fat Dog, and Die Spitz. Tickets for the UK leg remain available via official channels.
Foo Fighters’ latest album, *Your Favorite Toy*, launched in April 2025, with NME awarding it 3.5/5 stars. The review noted its return to “no-frills punk, played fast and loud,” dubbing it “vital” yet “a few tracks short” of matching *The Colour and the Shape*’s critical acclaim.
