Iran media says Tehran has not taken a final decision on the US peace deal
Iran’s Fars news agency reported on Sunday that Tehran has not reached a final decision on signing the memorandum of understanding being negotiated with the United States to end the regional conflict, according to AFP.
The agency, which is close to Iran’s conservative circles, quoted a well‑informed source within the negotiating team, stating that the Islamic Republic has neither taken nor announced a definitive stance on the proposal.
Hard‑line figures in Iran have expressed opposition, arguing that the draft would diminish Tehran’s leverage over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Explosions heard in Beirut as Israel targets southern suburbs
Israel said it struck the Dahiyeh district of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold, in response to missile fire from the group into Israeli territory. The Israeli military reported that the operation precisely hit a Hezbollah infrastructure site.
Lebanon’s National News Agency confirmed a strike in the Ghobeiry area, and an AFP correspondent reported hearing explosions from the southern suburbs.
Reuters has reported draft terms of the US‑Iran agreement, though The Guardian could not verify them.
According to senior Iranian officials, the memorandum would require Tehran to cease nuclear weapons production and acquisition, dilute its highly enriched uranium stockpile within 60 days, and halt any further enrichment or facility expansion.
In return, the United States would lift oil sanctions for a defined period, allow Iran to sell oil and receive revenues, and release $25 billion of frozen Iranian assets, potentially via direct cash transfers.
The draft also calls for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to all commercial vessels and the cessation of the U.S. naval blockade.
Donald Trump announced that the deal would be signed that day, but Iranian media cited sources saying Tehran has not yet taken a final decision.
Israel orders evacuation of 29 villages in southern Lebanon

Qatari negotiators travel to Tehran to finalize US‑Iran deal
Qatari officials arrived in Tehran on Sunday to help finalize the framework agreement aimed at ending the three‑month US‑Iran conflict, according to sources familiar with the talks.
Both US and Pakistani leaders have anticipated a Sunday signing, while hard‑line protesters in Iran have voiced opposition, casting doubt on the timing.
Donald Trump reiterated that a peace deal with Iran is slated for signing today, promising the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that if the agreement collapses, the United States retains “the ultimate alternative,” which he hopes will never be used.
In related developments, Pakistan’s prime minister Shehbaz Sharif said Islamabad is preparing for an electronic signing within 24 hours, followed by technical talks next week.
An Iranian foreign‑ ministry spokesperson cautioned that the exact signing date remains uncertain, though a signing in the coming days is not ruled out.
