The 2026 FIFA World Cup USA Opening Ceremony concluded last night at Los Angeles Stadium in Inglewood, showcasing a diverse lineup including LISA, Anitta, Tyla, Rema, Future, Dan + Shay, and Purahei Soul. The event was highlighted by a headlining performance from Katy Perry, who was joined on stage by 10-year-old Norwegian singer Tius Luka for the track “Wonder” from her album 143.
Prior to the show, Perry shared a video on Instagram revealing the song’s origins, noting that Tius Luka originally recorded his vocals in 2021 at the age of five. “I heard his vocal in 2023 and was inspired to write the verses for ‘Wonder’ and added it to my sixth album,” she explained. “Tius is 10 now and flew all the way to LA from Norway to sing this song with me on Friday at the World Cup.”
The Los Angeles event served as the final installment of three opening ceremonies for the 2026 tournament. The festivities began Thursday at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca with appearances by Shakira, Burna Boy, Maná, J Balvin, Belinda, Danny Ocean, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, and Tyla. A second ceremony at BMO Field in Toronto featured Alanis Morissette, Michael Bublé, Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, Elyanna, and William Prince.
