Los Angeles Knight Riders 196 (Fletcher 40, Powell 37, Jasdeep 3-29, Baartman 3-36, Shanaka 2-59) defeated Seattle Orcas 115 (Russell 3-8, van Schalkwyk 3-17, le Roux 2-17, Narine 2-18) by 81 runs in a high-octane encounter.
Los Angeles Knight Riders’ innings was a tale of two halves. After electing to bat first, they lost wickets consistently but managed to post a formidable 196, with each batsman contributing valuable runs. Colin Munro and Andre Fletcher laid a solid foundation with a 58-run opening partnership before the fall of the first wicket after the powerplay. Jason Holder provided late acceleration, smashing 23 off 14 balls from the No. 6 position. However, it was Kieron Powell who stole the spotlight, unleashing a brutal assault on Dasun Shanaka in the 17th over, hitting five consecutive sixes before being dismissed off the final delivery of the over. Despite a tight final over from Jasdeep Singh, who claimed three wickets while conceding just four runs, LAKR reached 196, falling just short of the 200-mark.
In response, Seattle Orcas faltered early, with Sunil Narine striking twice in his opening spell to dismantle their top order. Matthew Breetzke and Tim Seifert fell cheaply, leaving SO at 33/2 in the fifth over. Carmi le Roux capitalized on the momentum, adding two more quick wickets as the Orcas limped to 43/4 by the end of the powerplay. The collapse continued as Andre Russell and Shadley van Schalkwyk tore through the middle and lower order, with Russell claiming three wickets for just eight runs. Harmeet Singh, the lone resistance with 25 off 17, was the only Seattle batter to reach double digits as the innings folded for 115, with 4.3 overs still remaining in their quota.
