Army Advances Next-Gen Command and Control System Implementation Across Two Divisions]
The U.S. Army is moving forward with deploying a next-generation command-and-control system across two infantry divisions, marking a significant step toward enabling real-time digital sharing of battle data. The Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) initiative, which transitioned from experimental program to program of record in April 2025, is now being implemented by the 25th Infantry Division and the 4th Infantry Division. The 4th Infantry Division in Colorado has been utilizing the system for nearly a year, testing the full technology stack during recent military exercises.
According to the Army, both divisions will begin integrating the common data layer baseline “as soon as possible” with minimal disruption to ongoing training and operational activities. The two units have already collaborated during events such as Ivy Sting-Mass and Lightning Surge to share insights, reuse applications, and align capabilities, accelerating the scalability of the NGC2 framework.
Anduril has been selected to lead the integration effort for both divisions. While each unit will customize the system to meet specific requirements, the ultimate goal is to enable data sharing across units when operating in proximity. The system leverages Anduril’s Lattice software platform and supports integration from multiple sources, including logistics applications, unmanned aerial systems, and various sensor networks.
NGC2 is designed to provide a unified platform for battle planning across multiple locations and devices. During a recent live-fire exercise, for example, an Army M777 howitzer successfully engaged a target using data generated by the Marine Corps, demonstrating the system’s interoperability. The technology is part of the Army’s broader transformation strategy focused on continuous innovation through rapid prototyping and direct feedback from soldiers.
