Friday’s racing action unfolds across Newcastle, Doncaster, Yarmouth, and Bangor, featuring a combined 27 contests throughout the day.
6.53 Newcastle – Diamond Rain Leads Charge in Hoppings Fillies’ Stakes
Last year’s victor Diamond Rain heads a field of seven for the feature Group 3 Jenningsbet In Delves Hoppings Fillies’ Stakes at Newcastle. The Charlie Appleby-trained five-year-old captured this prize impressively in 2023 before placing in a pair of Group 1 events. She tuned up for her title defence with a solid third in the Middleton Stakes at York and looks the one to beat under William Buick.
Ed Walker’s Dreamer arrives seeking a hat-trick following victories at Salisbury and Haydock. Her latest success came in the Listed Hedge of Oak Stakes, and she commands respect stepping up in class. David Carpenter saddles a dual challenge with Ashariba and Uluru, both possessing each-way claims after creditable efforts in Listed company at Le Lion d’Angers. James Fanshawe, whose stable is operating at a 27% strike rate, is represented by Sky Safari.
11.15 Doncaster – Ruby Red Gove and Zubaru Headline Open Handicap
Ruby Red Gove and Zubaru clash in the competitive The MW Window Systems Handicap at Doncaster. George Scott’s To The Dentist has shown improved form this season, winning twice, though he disappointed as favourite at Musselburgh last time. He drops back to six furlongs from a mark 1lb lower.
Ruby Red Gove doubled her career tally with a comfortable success at Pontefract early this month and deserves respect upping in grade under Dylan Hogan. Peter Chapple-Hyam’s Photosynthesis merits attention after a solid third at this track previously, while Duran races 5lbs below his last winning mark for Nigel Tinkler. The five-year-old needs to rekindle his best form but performed well on Town Moor last season, beaten only a neck by Smart Vision.
11.30 Yarmouth – Unexposed Pair Kaori and Ya Karim Meet in Handicap
Promising duo Kaori and Ya Karim feature among nine runners for the Winning Experience With Moulton Racing Handicap at Yarmouth. George Boughey’s Kaori showed promise in three maiden and novice starts before a disappointing handicap debut at Lingfield. Given she previously chased home the likes of Inis Mor, she warrants another chance.
Harry Charlton’s Ya Karim ran a race full of potential when third on his handicap debut at Kempton, and a 1lb drop in the weights looks fair. Others to note include Luzon Heights and recent winner Gorgeous Mr George, who carries a 5lb penalty for his latest success.
Best of the Rest
Doncaster’s 10:15 The British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes sees the 2.5-million-guineas yearling Alpinara headline. A sister to Arc heroine Alpinista, she was disappointing on debut at Newbury but should improve returning from a break and stepping up to 12 furlongs.
Sir Mark Prescott saddles Mountbatten for Yarmouth’s 10:30 First Furnishings’ Front Runners Handicap, while the 11:00 British Stallion Studs EBF Restricted Maiden Fillies’ Stakes features several intriguing debutants. Back at Newcastle, Seven Questions and Thoroughbred contest the Gosforth Park Cup at 7:28pm, before Crystal Glance headlines the feature contest from Bangor at 7:43pm.
