EXCLUSIVE: The first trailer for A Social Contract – a political thriller led by Sean Astin and directed by Jason Mac – has been released by Buffalo 8, which will launch the film across digital platforms on August 7.
The film features Astin alongside Domenica Cameron‑Scorsese, Craig Parker, Christopher Wallinger, Angela Morris, Connor Green, Rachel Kang, Samora Smallwood, Maria Alejandra Hernandez, and John Wood Jr., all of whom bring depth to a cast of high‑stakes political figures.
Set against a Fourth of July backdrop, the story follows Senator Bennett Wilde as he hosts an intimate dinner for close family members and political allies. The evening turns lethal when an emergency alert signals an imminent nuclear strike on Washington, D.C., triggering a classified evacuation plan. A helicopter is dispatched to rescue Wilde, but with only three additional seats, chaos erupts as alliances break, secrets emerge, and each guest fights to prove their worth for survival.
The picture is produced by John Lerchen, Austin Turner, and Nick Silva, with Matthew Helderman and Luke Taylor of Buffalo 8 serving as executive producers.
