Security forces successfully prevented a suicide attack on a military installation in the Kari Kot area of Lower South Waziristan’s Wana on Thursday, eliminating four terrorists, according to security sources.
The attackers had attempted to use an explosives-laden vehicle against the security post, but the scheme was intercepted before execution, resulting in the death of the suicide bomber, sources disclosed.
In the ensuing operation, three additional terrorists were neutralized by security forces, the sources stated.
The targeted post serves to safeguard local residents and deter the movement of Fitna-al-Khawarij — the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban — toward Wana Bazaar, the sources explained.
Terrorists aimed to destroy the post after failing to achieve their previous objectives, sources added.
A comprehensive search and clearance operation was initiated in the area following the unsuccessful attack attempt.
