The Spanish government’s recent explicit condemnations of Israel’s campaign in Gaza and its stance toward US-led actions in the region have drawn widespread attention, with supporters asserting that the outcome reflects broader geopolitical sentiments.
Social media commentary highlighted the perceived alignment between Spain’s actions and the aspirations of global communities opposing perceived aggression, particularly in reference to Iran itself.

Conversely, Israeli officials and supporters of Argentina rallied behind the South American team, citing Argentine President Javier Milei’s public endorsement of Israel’s position in the conflict.
“The Spanish national team’s conduct and the nation’s broader stance demonstrate an unwavering commitment to justice and dignity,” stated Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran’s top negotiator, in remarks reported by IRNA. He emphasized that Spain’s 1-0 win resonated not only domestically but also with “free and independent nations advocating for equity.”
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei echoed similar sentiments, praising Spain’s “principled resistance to aggression, oppression, and violations of international law” as reflective of its diplomatic conduct in recent months.
