ISLAMABAD: A three-judge Supreme Court panel, led by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, has mandated the Adiala prison administration to furnish comprehensive details of all visits by incarcerated PTI leader Imran Khan to family, legal representatives, and associates during his near-three-year detention.
The directive stems from contempt of court proceedings challenging an Islamabad High Court (IHC) ruling denying enhanced visitation access. The bench heard petitions from PTI’s Salman Akram Raja and allies contesting the October 23, 2025 IHC decision.
During cross-examination, the court specifically required documentation of meeting frequencies and dates, noting that a thorough record should be submitted to assess compliance with prior judicial orders. Meanwhile, Raja reported to the court that Imran Khan remained in solitary confinement and was experiencing medical issues affecting vision.
Justice Mazhar highlighted discrepancies in the administration’s assurances regarding media interactions, questioning whether reported compliance with earlier directives had been properly implemented. The attorney general argued for additional time to compile the requested reports, while opposing counsel contested the sufficiency of evidence presented.
The case centered on allegations that the IHC improperly dismissed Raja’s contempt petition by relying on administrative statements rather than substantive evidence. The petition argued this constituted a constitutional violation under Article 199, which mandates judicial oversight of executive actions.
