The Seattle Seahawks announced Monday that safety Nick Emmanwori has been placed on the active/physically unable to perform (PUP) list. The specifics regarding his injury were not disclosed until Wednesday.
According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, Emmanwori underwent surgery on his right ankle earlier this month. While the procedure may cause him to miss portions of training camp, he is currently projected to be available for the start of the regular season in Week 1.
Although Emmanwori had been participating in offseason programs with the team, persistent soreness eventually necessitated the arthroscopic procedure.
The 2025 second-round selection dealt with two separate right ankle injuries during the previous season. He missed three games following a high-ankle sprain in the season opener and later played through a low-ankle sprain leading up to Super Bowl LX.
During the 2025 regular season, Emmanwori recorded 81 total tackles, including nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, 11 passes defensed, and one interception across 14 games. He also contributed 13 tackles, four passes defensed, and a fumble recovery during Seattle’s three-game postseason run.
Emmanwori is eligible to be moved back to the Seahawks’ 90-player roster once he successfully passes a physical examination.
