Both drivers have played key roles in refining the Rally2 car this season, positioning it for a potential 2027 entry pending Hyundai’s approval.
Hyundai has not yet committed to the FIA‑proposed Rally2 upgrade package, which would align the car with the upcoming WRC27 regulations and reduce weight by 10 kg through new homologated fenders, a revised front bumper and aerodynamic components.
Wheatley noted that the team awaits further guidance from the FIA and that its current stance remains unchanged, emphasizing a focus on 2026 while preparing a testing program for the new Rally2 car in the coming quarter.
He added that while many components will be carried over, the updated model will incorporate substantial new parts, effectively constituting a new vehicle.

With Hyundai still deliberating its 2027 strategy, both Neuville and Fourmaux confront an uncertain path forward.
Neuville remarked that, despite the lack of an official statement, he remains optimistic about future opportunities and is committed to continuing his rally career.
He added that his next year’s plans are undecided, though his objective remains to stay with Hyundai in some capacity.
Fourmaux stated that he will compete through the end of the season and is open to a temporary Rally2 stint before returning to Rally1, noting that while a short‑term approach is acceptable, longer delays would be unsatisfactory.
