The July 23 episode showcased the highly anticipated “Righteous Deletion” match, filmed at the legendary Hardy Compound. The Hardys defended the TNA World Tag Team Championship against The Righteous in a contest steeped in the surreal “Broken Universe” aesthetic. Amid the characteristic chaos, one specific sequence commanded the spotlight as Matt Hardy paid homage to the AMC series’ formidable villain.
Matt Hardy Recreates Negan’s Iconic The Walking Dead Introduction
The pivotal moment unfolded during a chaotic brawl inside the Compound’s makeshift ring. Flanked by his wife Reby Hardy and their children, Matt encircled opponents Dutch and Vincent in true Broken fashion.
The sequence featured exploding red paper effects, Matt orchestrating the assault, and the “Woken” star wielding a barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bat unmistakably modeled after Lucille, Negan’s signature weapon.
Hardy also appropriated one of Negan’s most chilling catchphrases. “Looks like it’s about time to take a trip to piss pants city,” he declared, a direct nod to Negan’s infamous warning: “It’s gonna be pee pee pants city here real soon.”
Moments later, Hardy recited the ominous nursery rhyme—”Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Moe”—before striking Dutch with the bat, faithfully restaging the brutal selection ritual from the series’ harrowing Season 7 premiere.
