Arsenal are prepared to pursue a marquee striker who could replace Viktor Gyokeres in January or at the end of the season.
The Gunners were willing to sell Gyokeres during the summer transfer window, with Atletico Madrid reportedly interested in acquiring the forward.
Atletico considered proposing a deal involving Julian Alvarez, but the move did not progress after Alvarez rejected a switch to Arsenal.
Gyokeres was content to remain with the club, although he has featured sparingly in the Premier League as Kai Havertz has led the attack.
Havertz has strengthened his position with three goals across all competitions, while Gyokeres is yet to score this season.
Reports indicate that Arsenal remain determined to recruit an elite centre-forward and submitted a late offer for Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez during the summer.
The club is also monitoring several other prominent attacking targets. Signing a new striker could create an opportunity for Gyokeres to leave.
Gyokeres is expected to attract considerable interest, with Atletico, Barcelona, Juventus and clubs from Saudi Arabia among his potential suitors.
