Premiere: Charli XCX Unveils Full ‘Music, Fashion, Film’ Album Film

Charli XCX has released a complete film accompanying her new record ‘Music, Fashion, Film’, which you can view below.

The self‑directed project titled Charli xcx presents Music, Fashion, Film premiered yesterday (July 24), coinciding with the launch of her seventh studio album.

Shot in stark black‑and‑white, the film interweaves distinct visual pieces for each of the album’s eleven tracks with behind‑the‑scenes material and personal commentary from Charli on the album’s development.

She opens by stating, “During this album cycle, I’ve been creating alongside my friends, and I’ve cherished every moment of it.”

Charli further explains that the record was crafted with producers A.G. Cook and Finn Keane, whom she describes as “two individuals who have evolved into my closest collaborators through our musical partnership.”

The visual narrative traverses fashion shoots, candid moments captured around London, studio recordings, and full‑scale music‑video sequences, all while Charli offers insight into the concepts behind each track.

In advance of ‘Card Declined’, she reflects on her affection for shopping in cities such as London and Paris, noting how acquiring new garments can enable a shift into an alternate persona.

The segment linked to ‘Camera’ features footage from the Aidan Zamiri‑directed video starring French actor Vincent Cassel, alongside recordings of Charli presenting the concept to Cassel and his ensuing voice‑mail reply.

Charli describes the song’s exploration of the performer‑camera dynamic, emphasizing its allure and excitement alongside feelings of vulnerability and self‑consciousness.

The film concludes with ‘No One Lasts Forever’, which includes a spoken‑word contribution from director David Cronenberg. Charli provides an intimate look at their Toronto discussion about mortality, artistic expression, and the prospect of leaving a lasting impact.

Earlier, Charli highlighted the Cronenberg collaboration as the album’s most compelling track, calling it “one of my most cherished songs I’ve ever written.”

The visual album was previewed through exclusive listening events hosted in cinemas across twenty‑five cities earlier this month, giving fans an early experience of the record alongside its visual components before the official release.

‘Music, Fashion, Film’ was produced by Charli, A.G. Cook, and Finn Keane and includes the previously released singles ‘Rock Music’, ‘SS26’, ‘Wink Wink’ and ‘Camera’.

This marks Charli’s first conventional studio album since 2024’s critically acclaimed ‘Brat’, though she also contributed the soundtrack for Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heightswhich arrived in February.

Charli is set to headline Lollapalooza in Chicago next Friday (July 31), followed by her debut headline performance at Reading & Leeds in August. She will then launch a North American arena tour with Underscores, commencing in Philadelphia on September 11.
