At least three people, including a child, were killed in overnight Russian missile attacks near Kyiv, according to a local official.
Early Saturday morning, missiles struck east of the capital, and witnesses heard powerful explosions, just days after separate strikes in Ukraine that killed 21 people.
The ballistic missile strikes resulted in three deaths and three injuries, said Timur Tkachenko, head of the regional military administration. Falling debris damaged apartment buildings and vehicles, and a fire ignited in a nearby building.
Emergency crews are battling fires at a building and a fuel tank in Kyiv, Mayor Vitaly Klitchko reported on Telegram.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (DSNS) posted images of burning garages, a business, and a building in Kyiv, noting that the victim count is still being verified.
