Brie Bella has drawn comparisons between Chelsea Green’s recent WWE title victory and her husband Daniel Bryan’s (Bryan Danielson) championship run.
With Rhea Ripley set to step away from WWE due to injury, the SmackDown Women’s Championship needed new representation.
A 5-way ladder match at SummerSlam was organized, featuring Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Tiffany Stratton, Chelsea Green, and Lash Legend competing for the interim title.
Despite three former champions in the mix, Green secured the unexpected victory.
Green, a two-time Women’s United States Champion, faced criticism earlier this year when Michael Hayes referred to her as an enhancement talent during Season 2 of WWE: Unreal.
Though initially upset by these comments, Hayes’ remarks ultimately generated significant fan support for the Canadian wrestler, with WWE officials reportedly viewing her as a future singles champion.
During a recent episode of The Nikki & Brie Show, Brie Bella compared Green’s success to Daniel Bryan, who was labeled a “B+ superstar” in an early 2010s storyline by The Authority (Stephanie McMahon and Triple H).
Bryan went on to capture the World Heavyweight Championship and headline two WrestleMania events during his WWE tenure.
Her moment reminds me of those times with Bryan when the fans were completely behind you, cheering so passionately, and it just happened naturally.
Then when WWE finally gives you that opportunity, it becomes more than just a moment for Chelsea—it’s a moment for all the fans, and everyone shares in the celebration.
We were all celebrating. We were incredibly happy for her. I was so proud of her. [H/T: WrestleTalk.com]
Brie Bella Out Of WWE For Up To 6 Months Due To Injury
Brie Bella, like Chelsea Green, competed at SummerSlam, teaming with her sister Nikki Bella and friend Paige to face The Fatal Influence’s Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid.
During the match, Jayne set Brie up against the steel steps and delivered a Cannonball. However, the move backfired, with Jayne’s shoulder getting caught between Brie and the stairs instead of making full contact with her body.
Brie immediately showed signs of discomfort and had limited involvement in the remainder of the contest.
The match concluded with a loss for The Bella Twins and Paige, after which the sisters turned on their partner, ending their alliance.
On the podcast, Brie Bella also discussed her SummerSlam injury, revealing that her recovery could take anywhere from two to six months.
She explained that consultations with an orthopedic surgeon determined her injury didn’t require surgical intervention, instead recommending natural healing.
He explained that it’s really difficult to break your scapula, and that surgery isn’t typically performed on scapulas. He mentioned there’s only one doctor who might consider it, but honestly, it’s similar to breaking ribs—you just have to wait for it to heal naturally.
From there, I’m looking at three to six months of recovery, so it really depends on how my scapula heals. I like to think we Bellas heal quickly, but the scapula is particularly tricky.
